Major League Baseball 06-30-2009 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Tuesday, June 30th, 2009: New York (N) Trades Wagner to St. Louis for The New York (N) Mets have parted ways with 37-year old reliever Billy Wagner, sending him to the St. Louis Cardinals for a 2nd round draft pick. The Mets general manager confirmed the deal in an announcement this morning.
So far this year Wagner has been credited with 6 saves, registered a 5.40 ERA and struck out 25 in 23.1 innings. The right fielder really tore up National League pitching and easily claimed the Player of the Week Award.
The 27-year-old hit .522 with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs. For the week he was 12-23 and scored 5 runs.
